The Photographer

Meet Your Boudoir Photographer
Hi, I’m Liz! I’m a boudoir photographer based in Winnipeg, Canada. I’m a queer, neurodivergent woman (pronouns are she/her), and a Taurus Sun / Aquarius Moon / Scorpio Rising for all the astrology obsessed out there :P. I’m here to help you connect with yourself through fine art boudoir photography.

My Photography Journey
I learned how to use my dad’s 35mm film camera when I was kid, and I’ve loved photography ever since! I’m self taught in all aspects of photography, from black and white film processing, to digital editing. I even worked in a professional photo lab for 6 years, a childhood dream come true :P.
I was really into photographing local bands and burlesque showcases (I danced in a few of them too!). I loved the dramatic lighting and how powerful and inspiring the performers looked. At some point I stumbled across boudoir photography. The boudoir photos that originally inspired me had the same moody, dramatic vibe as the performance photos I took, and the subjects look just as powerful… but in this softer, more intimate and raw way. I thought it was beautiful and so different from the “hot”, “pretty”, and “sexy” I saw as a girl and teenager in the 90s and 2000s. I learned over time though that boudoir was more than just a pretty photo.
Why Boudoir Photography?
I want to help people discover and (re)connect with themselves. Believe in themselves. Be confident in themselves.
Its simple: If we don’t feel good about ourselves, we’re easier to control and manipulate. There are so many things in the world telling us we’re not good enough, undercutting our self-confidence. I think its more important than ever that people feel secure in themselves, empowered, and self-actualized. I want to cause a metamorphosis in them. And I can do that with my art.
I feel like boudoir photography confronts societal expectations around unrealistic beauty standards, gender roles, worthiness, personal autonomy… We feel pressured to conform and shrink ourselves to fit these narratives, or else suffer the consequences. And in a boudoir session at my studio, I want to show you that you’re amazing and worthy exactly as you are, right at this moment. Not a past version of you, or a future version of you… the You that you are right now.
This is what I want a boudoir session at my studio to be for you: I want it to be a seed from which a new chapter in your life grows. The chapter where you find your way back to yourself. The chapter where you block out the noise and unrealistic expectations, and live life on your own terms.
